Learning Pathways
The Sixth Form at the Piggott School offers a wide range of courses. We welcome students to the Sixth Form who wish to work hard and play an active part in the life of the school.
Three different pathways are offered:
- A Level Pathway
- Level 3 Vocational Pathway
- Combined Pathway
Please click here to view information about individual courses.
A Level Pathway
Most students will study three subjects. However, four subjects are available after discussion with the Head of Year.
Entry requirements are a best 8 score of 57 points. A minimum of Grade 4 in English and Mathematics is required.
Individual subjects will have their own entry requirements. Students will follow a two-year, linear programme with PPE examinations in June of each year to show progress.
- An average Points Score calculation table (for your best 8 subjects) can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Please note that the school reserves the right to withdraw courses but that this is a very rare occurrence.
Level 3 Vocational Pathway
Students opting for this pathway will take three vocational options over two years through one of the following routes:
Equivalent of 2 vocational options + 1 A Level
Equivalent of 3 vocational options
Entry requirements are a best 8 score of 47 points. You must follow an English course (equivalent to GCSE) if you do not have at least Grade 4 in English. You must also follow a Mathematics course (equivalent to GCSE) if you do not have at least Grade 4 in Mathematics.
Girls' Academy
Girls' Football Development Programme
The Piggott School launched its new girls only Football Academy for 16-18 year old girls who have a talent and passion for football.
The programme will provide players with the skill to be able to develop their performance and understanding of the game. Training sessions will fit around the girls' academic lessons, allowing pupils flexibility to study up to 3 A-Level qualifications alongside their training.
Players will be expected to train up to 4 hours a week and represent the Academy team.
We are realistic in our view that very few students will become professional footballers, and therefore we focus on providing our students with the experience, values and qualifications that will offer them a broader choice and pathway in the sports industry when they graduate.
